yeah, it was fast with sweeping turns. rick was faster than james stewart, but guess what, it was so one lined that every attempt was thwarted by the fact he had to go outside the main line to try to pass. it took him 25 minutes to get around. he was working really hard to get around. he never let off. anyone who saw the race knows how poor the track was. i dont know, but they need to get is so that rut form good inside line with a good berm on the outside and a good middle line. look at glen helen. Jody knows how to build a track. they need to make them like jody does as far as preperation and making good lines for good racing.

here is what Roger Decoster, the MAN himself says about the smooth tracks at southwick and budds creek:
“I don’t like how the tracks are smoothed out. I will say that at Southwick the track was in the best shape that it has been in a long time, thanks to the rain that came on Friday and Saturday morning before the race. I do think that the track crew should flatten the first two turns (the start and the ensuing corner), but they went overboard at Southwick in that second moto. I mean, it’s not only a motocross track, but it’s also a sand track.
“In past years Budds Creek has usually been pretty good. Jonathan Beasley tends to rip the dirt really deep on Friday, and sometimes it’s scary deep. Ripping up the track creates good lines, but this year they disked the dirt about four inches deep. It was wide open and was way too smooth. In the past I didn’t like how the Budds Creek National looked like a junkyard, because some fences were down and the banners were placed horribly in some areas, but they cleaned it up this year. The dirt at Budds Creek should have been disked deep, and the faces of the jumps should be the only area on the track (other than the first two turns) that is smoothed out. We’re supposed to be racing motocross, not road racing or Supermoto. The first moto at Budds Creek resembled a Supermoto track more than anything.”

Just so everyone doesn't feel the AMA is singling out Motocross; in my most recent Cycle News yesturday there is a big story centering on Dirt Track (flat track) and teh Springfield Mile; apparently the AMA has created quite a contreversey there and everyone is lamenting how the AMA is ruining (has ruined?) flat track racing.

yeah, i know they arent just singling out motocross, they are a hindrance to any type of racing they control. They just care about money and not the overall welfare of the sport. killing the two-strokes, all this fuel crap, "four-stroke" tracks, unleaded gas, smooth motocross, sound, crackpot ideas, etc. when will the madness end?
