I have never riden a 4-stroke motocross bike so I can't advise you there, but I do love my 05 YZ250. It works fine in the wood as long as you don't get to crazy with it.

I am your height and weight and have a 07 YZ250F and the bike is made for our height and weight. It's a great woods and track bike.

Had a chance to ride a YZ250 not to long ago and it is a fantastic bike. With your riding and 2-stroke ability sounds like the YZ250 is the way for you to go, you just have to get the feel for the bike and not get to crazy and it will be even a better woods and track bike.
I love this dirt stuff.

when i was at knobby ridge...there was a guy trying to do a timed race... (he was on a wr250f).....with himself....just had a stop watch...well i was going to try and follow on my rm....wellll.....he was a rocket...and 100 yards in i couldn't see him any more....so a say to myself....well ill still just ride hard..... but about a half hour later...i thought i saw him stopped through the trees....well i go around the corner...sure enough there he is.....bike is steammin a little (not running)  i asked him was happend ( i could see peaces on his bike on the ground like someone had taken a sledge hammer to it......he said...come and see for your self....i walk around to the front of the bike...i see a peace of a shroud on the ground....along with gas everywhere and....a twisted up radiator....with the radiator guard still on it....he told me at the point to lost control....pinned it to try and correct it (ridin in sand) the front tire came off the ground and he wheelied into a tree.....cracked the tank.....shredded the shroud, ruined the radiator, bent the handle bar, ripped the brake lever off bars, and there was other stuff but i don't remember them all.....then! i had to  drive him back to his truck (on the back of my bike) down the road so he could bring his truck to the spot where he crashed.....we got back to his truck.............the keys were in the seat pack of his bike!!...so then i had to ride all the way back to the bike....grab the keys....im comin back down the road and about a half mile from the parking lot....im outa gas.........bad day

yea, rode a few diferent years of yz 250, sweet ride no matter wha the mods are even if stock, can be happy as pigin mud if chugged(tuned right) or wide open on track, havent hadmuch expereince on the 250f, but still handles awesome and pulls well for a lites, but for your height i'd go with the yz 250
