I have found through my many years of experience that yamaha holds up much better than a suzuki.  Also a yamaha has a smooth usable powerband that is good for both motocross and trails.

I would choose the rm because it is just a power package waiting to be unleashed, trust me you wont be disapointed if you buy one.

Yamahas are a hell of a lot more reliable and they have a smoother powerband. YAMAHA all the way

Well, the old comparing bike speed again. It reliea alot on the rider, like RC or JSR on a 85 could probably beat me on a 125 cause hes a way better rider.

And drag-racing is rediculous, in my opinion.

but it is fun in some sense....like if your in the sand...a drag race isn't only a strait line...its a struggle to keep the bike up and still go fast

no contest, yz all the way. much better overall package. from 97 to 08. you cant go wrong. a yz125 is not faster than an rm250 in acceleration or top speed. it may be faster for some riders in lap times. my lap times on my 125 are lower (faster) than on my yz250.

It doesn't matter which one is faster, your such a NOOB you'll be riding a couple years before you'll be able to use close to what either of those bikes are capable of, so I say just go for the best deal for now until you learn how to ride.
