that is alwesome but 4 strokes are crap. i dont want one and i cant afford it if it blows up. and why get a 250f when i can get a 250 two stroke and race it against a 250f in the new ama rules.

More power does not always mean the rider will go faster.  He might not be comforitable riding a bull like a 250 2 stroke yet.  The added power can wear you down quicker, and be harder to control.  I see plenty of guys still hauling the mail on 125s right past others on faster bikes, but they just don't use them to the full potential.  I'll admit that I never use all my bikes power on a track.  I don't ride a 125 because I'm too heavy for it to pull me up hills all day.

I'm curious which turns faster lap times on a 250:  the 4 stroke or the 2 stroke.  That would be with the same rider.  I always thought that a 2 stroke made more power but the 4 stroke is smoother.  Motocross Action, in a recent article, proved that in the open class, a 4 stroke is much faster compared to a 500cc 2 stroke in lap times with the same rider.  Could it be that it would depend on the track, too?

Track conditions, the riders conditioning, and what he is used to riding all factor into the lap times.  In most of these laptime tests comaping the three bikes they are all usually just a second or so off of each other betwenn laps.  Thats another big reason why I still use the much cheaper 2 stroke.

The latest DR has an interesting article where they run some comparisons on the 250F, 250 2-stroke and a 450F.

A lot boils down to the rider.  Its an interesting article.  The lap times weren't all that different among the riders and bikes.

guys are still really competitive on 250 2t against the 450's. 125 2t vs 250f you have to have alot of skills to be truly competitive.

and i meant broc hepler. i dont know where i got lesner from.

and to add to this that the article in DR. said that the 250t was the best motocross bike. and they couldnt decide which was better a 250f big bored to 290 or a 450f. they said the 450 had a bunch of power but had no handling. the 290f handled really good like a 250f but had more power then the 250f. so the 250f came in last.

and the lap times were only seconds apart and it did matter a lot on the rider and track.
