Hey DL. Thanks man. I just spent my night reading this..some parts twice, and looking at all the pics. I have book marked this, along with many other stickies off of this forum, will help me A LOT when I get to getting my bike. Would this be some what the same on a RM125? Or on a YZ125? If it isn't the same, it should be similar in some parts. Great post, great pics, again, like the air filter one, thanks.

The basic process is the same for most 2-strokes, different brands have slighly different powervalve setups.
The YZ125 is easier than my 250 as you don't have to remove the carb (but you do have to swing the radiators out of the way).
I can do a top end on my son's YZ125 in less time than my 250 generally.

yz250f4ever: well thanks again dave WOODS just helped me find this thread again.
I'll be doing another on it this year, plus cleaning and greasing the suspension linkage; I'll try and take some some good photo's of that process as well.

I notice that the new piston is a size B. I was wondering did you measure your bore before buying the piston or did you just guess? I have an 06 and I'm doing the top end soon but dont wanna lose a week of riding while waiting on the piston......but I spose I should just pull the cylinder and have it measured...what do you think?

My cylinder is a "C". The difference between a "A" to a "D" pistons is very very small. Thats why if you go to a Yamaha shop and order a piston kit (piston, rings, wrist pin) it comes with a "B" piston. "B" pistons fall within the clearances on any cylinder thats not worn out.
Since my cylinder was in good shape I did not measure it. If a cylinder appears worn or has no cross hatching (or has been honed) then I would measure it.
