Hi all, Im 28 years old, 5'9 and weigh about 200lbs. I used to ride when I was a teenager KX125), and I'm looking to buy a bike to get back into riding. I was thinking of getting a 2stroke motocross bike again, but have decided a 4 stroke might be more suitable. Can anyone suggest a few models that might be suitable for me? looking for  mid to late 90's/early 2000's model. I want something that i can use to just putt around with and go for rides with my girlfriend (i just bought her a bike too), but also something with enough power to have some fun on that i won't get bored with. Any suggestions? Thanks

You bought your girlfriend a bike and you don't have one? Are you crazy? Na jk. If your going to just put around then a 4-stroke and not a mx one because they will over heat if you put to much.
I would look for maybe a Yamaha WR.
I love this dirt stuff.

In the date range you listed I would lean toward 2-strokes of that vintage.  If a 4-stroke I would look for 2003 or later as they have come a long way.

As mentioned for general riding a off-road bike like the WR-250F/CRF-250Xwould be a good choice as the MX only 4-strokes generally don't like being ridden casually (they will over-heat).

smooth, buy the old lady a bike just to justify buyin one for yourself!! good job. what did you buy her?? whats your budget for your bike?? POP and DL are right, slow speeds can make 4stroke mx'rs run to hot.

haha yea was a good way to get back into riding buy buying "the boss" one as well.Nah she'll have fun. I might look at a wr then. I know earlier model four strokes were pretty heavy, how are the wr's compared to yz's in their weight?

not even close. since you have 125,s in your past look at an 06 or newer yz125 and you will be amazed how far they have come. and since you didnt tell us what you bought for the "boss" i cant help you with more excuses for what you should buy.
