I am having trouble choosing a bike that suits me. I am 17 years old. and weight about 150. I was thinking about either a yamaha yz250f or wr250f or a honda crf250r or a crf250x. I havent riden in a while and dont know if a 250 would throw me around. And i am afraid that a trail bike would become to slow for me. What do you think?

well the wr is a really fast trail nike and i dont think ull be underpowered
you see ppl think just because a bikes number or cc is low that itll be too slow..
like some ppl who come here who ask uus if they should buy a 450 because the 250 will be underpowerd for them because its a smaller number...u see where im goin

My step dad says that a 250 would throw me around and it would have to much power. What do you think? Cause i dont want to get a 125 and then want to upgrade the next year. Thats too expensive.

I know. But with a 125. You need to keep the throttled pinned down or you will be changin plugs like crazy. And me having been off the horse for awhile dont think that i will be able to handle a 125. plus I have heard they are very touchy.

well here is the thing if u have ure jeting right and all u shouldnt foul plugs ever now some guys just get the bike and go, thats what causes them to foul so easily but in truth, a 125 can be a great bike, if u get used to it

So if i adjust the jets on a 125. i shouldnt foul plugs so much? But will i have to keep the throttle pinned down all the time still?

No you need to ride on the pipe most of the time to keep your exhaust clear or the system will start to back up with fuel bogging down the engine and ultimately fouling the plug. Wrong jetting (too rich) will do the same. We say keeping the throttle pinned but if you raly did that the bike would sieze. On the pipe is when the bike suddenly gets really loud and wants to take off like a raped ape. 2 strokes use sound energy as a super charger to get more of a fuel charge in the cylinder. Giving the bike much more power. The pipes are tuned to come on like that at certain RPMS. Thats why aftermarket pipes are so popular for them. You can tune your powerband (to some extent) to fit you better. A 125 would fit you perfect right now, and would be a good tool in learning how to ride faster by utilizing a bikes power with its transmission and clutch. If you were not so new I would even recommend a 250 2 stroke. It would be more appealing to someone of your smaller weight tahn a 450. 250fs don't make more power than a 125 2 stroke. It's just spread out over a broader range. 250fs are good bikes, they are just more expensive to maintain.

first off trail bikes are faster than R models, top speed, they have longer riding time in each gear so i don't think out growing them will be a problem.

They are not faster, just geared different. They have much less power, and it comes on smoother.
I like trail bikes for the trail, but for most situations I prefer the extra power of a race bike.

I have no clue what bike to get for my first bike im 16 130lb and about 5'8". I would probable only go to a track 5 or 6 times a year, and i would ride more trails. i was thinking a 150r but i dont if that would be good on smaller trails
