2 stroke vs. 4 stroke!

there is nothing on a 2 stroke that u wont do on a 4 stroke like clean air fliter changing tran oil rad fluid and make shure stuff is set and running right just one thing u have to do with teh 2 strokes is u have to make shure that u mix the gas and oil right

lol you guys...the power of honda right here.....my 99' cr250 and my 00' cr125 has never had a top end replaced.. EVER! im 19 years old and ive been riding these bikes for 3-4 years now every weekend or other weekend...and im not a nwb rider. every bike is different. my 03' and 04'450s are *** i work on those every week. but on the 125 and 250 all i do is replace the air filter change the oil once a month give it a little clean up job every now and then..but like i said before my 00'cr125 which has never had a top end replaced. out runs my friends new yz125 which just had a new engine in it. tht 00' 125 is the best bike i have ever owned.

Even if it seems to run OK I will guarantee if you pull the top end and check the ring gap and piston clearances you will need a top end.
Going that much time just increases the odds you will break something and then have a costly repair.
Non-racing I generally went 2 years on a piston but changed the rings yearly.
It only takes an afternoon and then you know what condition everything is in.

thats why the should was like that. My buddys CR is a 94 and I doubt it has ever had a topend, you can get by, but it is prolly not the best idea.
a two stroke 125 is a racebike, and it is going to have more maint. than a playbike. In comparison to any other full-size though maintenance. isn not more.

dude.... theres no getting around maitnence (it sucks, but itll keep u safe) suck it up n do it, my dad has had me wrenchin on my own bike whether it was an 85, ttr125 or a kx100 since i was twelve, youll learn, as for bikes does any one recommend between a kx250f or yz125?

Comparing a 2-stroke MX to a 4-stroke MX they are about the same (but the 4-stroke can cost more due to the valves/head needing work.)
Compare a 2-stroke MX to a 4-stroke trail bike (TT-R) then yes the 2-stroke requires more.

use a br7es spark plug if you get a 125 or you will change out a plug every ten minutes
