so my friend picked up a new 07 CRF250 and i was wondering if you guys could tell me a good and proper way of braking in the bike .. i remember reading change the oil and oil filter after 1-2 hours of riding, but thats all i can remember. and obviously riding the bike hard is bad intill its broken in

you got the oil and filter part completely correct.
Also, don't rev it out the first few hours. Stay under 1/2 throttle and mid RPM's. I posted a really detailed thread regarding break-in a few weeks ago in this forum, do a search and you will find it.
Also - make sure to check the valve clearance after the first couple hours.
I get 'er done with half the strokes!

I just finished breaking in my CRF250. Like Skip said... I never went above 1/2 throttle and I rode it thru 3 tanks of gas. After that I got on it full throttle but eased it in and ran it thru the gears. I did this thru another tank of gas. Then I drained the oil and changed the filter. In about 2 more hours I am going to check the valve clearance and adjust it if necessary. Skip posted info on this process for me a few weeks ago. Have fun!
