hey, iv hit a few problems with my bike and just need some feedback and ideas on how to fix it,

firstly the kick start works fine but it doesnt spring bk into place after kicking the bike off, it just hangs loose and sometimes swings out when riding. ny ideas on whats up with it ?

secondly after my bike being stood for a month the rear shock seems to have lost its compression , it hardly moves at all . im pretty new to fixing it cos it hasnt gone wrong yet but feedback would be cool

reply asap please thanks

Kickstart - there is a bolt on the kickstart lever.  Loosen it and the lever should come off. There is a little ball in the lever, and behind the ball, there is a little spring.  Make sure the spring and ball are still there, and if not - replace them.  Then clean the spring and ball and apply a light oil to them.  Finally, grease the shaft that the kickstart goes onto, then put the kickstart lever back on and tighten the bolt.

Shock - do you mean when you sit on the bike it doesn't compress at all, or are you talking about the compression damping?

yer with the shock its when i sit on it , it does compress at all it just stays stiff, is this to do with it being stood for a while and not used?

I'd have the shop check that shock - doesn't sound right to me...

Well - bad things come in 3's.  Kickstart, shock, and plug.  At least you know nothing else will go wrong this summer!

Do yoy know if it is the shock that is not compressing or the linkage it is bolted to?  Could the linkage be dry(without grease)?  I'd unbolt the shock and see if the linkage is locked up.
