Shortys give better responce off the bottom but now without out taking from the top. This is fine for tight tracks, but for most motocross and trail conditions a long pulling top end is more useful on a 125. And if he is planing on riding trails on state land he will be required to get a spark arrestor anyway. So for trails around home use the stock silencer as it was developed with a broader range use in mind.

yes but if your trails are like mine then you need more on the bottom, unless your going to ride in a field all day.
i think you should put on the shorty then tell us if you like it more or less.
