allright, if i understood this correctly, it made a funny noise while riding, and then the kicker felt stiff, then completely locked up? this is exactly what mine did. Take off your clutch look behind it where the kickstart attaches, your idler gear might have cracked out or got damaged and jammed things up. My idler gear cracked right out of teh casing, which made it do exactly as you have described if i understood you correctly sorry if this doesn't help ~pat

when i had a kx85 i was riding it and there was a wooping noise from the engine and then the bike locked up. the kick start gets locked. the problem is either that the main Engine Bearing has shatterd like mine did. or even the Piston has seezed.

I am also interested in hearing the answer to this question. but i know you have to put them in, and measure the gap of the end or something like that?? I'm thinking mine is gone as well. But it wouldn't do to your bike what has been done. Wouldn't seize up your kick, it just looses compression and is really hard to kick over. But can still be push started, am i correct in this?

I'll bet it was the idler gear. exactly what mine did. i dumped it trying to jump start it on a trail, and it fell back in place and i could kick it again. as for the clutch basket. all the other bikes are wayyy different then my bike. But on mine. i had to undo one huge nut, that was torqued to holy heck with loctite and the whole 9 yards. Is there a Huge nut on there?
