hey i am looking at the YZ125 and the CR125
i will not be racing or doing many jumps.
but i will be doing many hill climbs so high revs in the bottom end.
I will also be doing flat track circuits that i hav at friends farms but wnt be racing against them. (i wont be thrashing it)
What bike do u reccomend...And with that bike what Exphansion Chamber do u reccomend...
A Pro Circuit or a FMF Factory Fatty, Fatty or SST
Thanks Chris

if you want large bottom end, and hill climb, then fourstroke is for you, tourque at all rpms, pull likes a tractor

yeah, a 4 stroke has a way better bottom end than a 2 stroke and they pull really hard. a 2 stroke will pull hard, but only after you hit your powerband.

Well to acually answer your question the yz 125 has more power so you probably want that because the cr125 has a little bit less power due to shorter gears but the cr125 has better handeling so ya you want the yz 125.

And also for the other question, If you want bottom end torque get the factory fatty but for overall power get the Fatty so it is up to you what you want.

2 strokes do have great hill climbing potential some even greater than four strokes but 125's in general just aren't that great for climbing

fiolek you are way off.

the yz is not the most powerful bike that people think they are. the yz is the most usable bike though. the factory fatty and fatty are exactly the same thing except one has is lighter and and has no finish on it. the other is heavier with a finish. factory fatty will get damaged and rust easier because it has no finish. it suppose to give you slightly more power because its lighter but the change wont be noticed. get it if you plan on never dropping the bike on it side or having any rocks thrown at your bike, you will have to reoil the finish every ride. i would get the fatty not the factory fatty. sst is a very good pipe if you race mx. dont get the gnarly. it is the worst pipe you can get for a 125.

it is up to you. the cr's have been known to have more bottom end power and they turn on a dime.

if you use 2nd gear with a lot of speed and the throttle pinned you will climb any hill that you can look at.

i havent found a hill that i cant climb on my cr125, yet.

i am assuming we are talking about honda cr's? lol. husqvarna makes a cr as well lets not forget. I like the yz. mostly because i have heard nothing but bad from personal friends with cr's. I also like the looks of the yz's, allways looked sleeker to me. Anyway. But you should also take into consideration parts here. they dont make , sorry correction HONDA doesn't make cr's anymore. yamy makes yz's still. would the parts not be more available for longer for the yz?  my two bits ~pat

they normally run parts in 20 year life spans. so if you are planning on keeping a bike for more then 20 years then yamaha will have more parts available for a few years longer.

I didnt say the yz is the most powerful bike he asked about the yz and the cr and the yz is more powerful than the cr, the fatty and factory fatty info i got off of the FMF website so if im wrong on that then your saying FMF is wrong! And I did say that the cr has better handeling so that was right. you just misunderstude me.

Once again elko. lol. i did not know this!! lol. thank you. thats probably why your a "guru" lol. I hope to see you hit 3000 like skiph was it? lol. I shall have a comment or two to post on your 3000 thread lol. But basicaly man, they are both 125 2 strokes. theres not gonna be a huge difference im sure. I have seen people on here say, whast your favorite color. And i bet thats pretty much what it comes down to i guess. that and the price if money is an issue. Look forward to seeing which one you go wiht and how she works out for you though ~pat

yes i did misunderstand you but it depends on how you look at the power. the cr has more bottom and top end power but no middle power. a yz is more spread.

and you must have misread because of have read what they say a million times and i just looked at it again. what i got out of it though is that the factory fatty will give .5 hp because it is lighter. but they both spread the power and give a wider powerband.

and thanks atk. and you are right it matters more on what color you like. they are 125's and i doubt you will notice a difference. the magazines ride these bikes back to back multiple time for multiple hours at a time. and they examine every liitle thing. i doubt you will notice a difference between two brand new bikes off the showroom floor, unless you rode them back to back.

if you are getting a used bike then you should care more about the condition of the bike rather then the brand of the bike.
