Yeah I am 21 myself. So maybe a 250 wouldn't be too bad? idk, maybe I will just get a cheap ass 125 till I get really comfortable and then get a nice newer 250.

no he had the bike tapped out as fast as it could go and let off the throttle. well when you do that engine is starved of fuel and will seize. so remember that if you have the bike pinned let off the throttle easy.
so he blew it up bad. the shop he took it too said that was the worst engine they ever saw and they actually put it up in their trophy case.

i paid $1,200.00 for my 02 yz 125. had a fresh top end in it, and suspension was just rebuilt. also, i'll agree ya can't outgrow a 125. i love 125's. i'm taller than kzak is and my 125 is fine for me. i do however have a 2 inch riser on it.

or you ride it to it's full potential and put kids like you to shame on the trail. get off the motocross track and actually learn how to ride a bike. on a 2-stroke you're always suppose to be in the band, and my 125 in the band is probably faster than your 250 with you driving it.

kzak i dont understand how you can possibly say that you can outgrow a 125. you have only had a bike for about a week now.
you cannot outgrow a 125. people choose to outgrow them not because they are good enough riders but because a 250 doesnt have to be ridden like a raped ape.
and i agree that me and randy can smoke you on 125's and will always be able to smoke you.

Elk is so right. i'm looking for a older 125 for myself to rip around on, And i'v been on the 250 for as long as i can remember. Heck skip even went out and got a YZ85 lol. You can crank around on a 125 forever. In some cases i'v recomended a 250 but alot depends on it info wise before i would tell somone to get one as a new rider. Somone who is older, has atleast ridden in the past, big and heavy enough to controle the power ect... If your spending the whole day just trying not to kill your self, Then your not having much fun are you. And thats what we want to try to help direct people to. What fits there application and what will be the most fun. In the end it is up to the buyer, But be carfull what you say without the information and exp on the bike you are talking about. I'm not jumping on a kzak bashing. Elk just made a really good point and was allaborating on it.

its not the age guys its the maturity. im got my 250 when i was 14 and had 2 years riding. coulda learned on it im sure. But i know a lot of 40 year old who wouldn't be mature or responsible enough on it to ride. It also helps if your afraid of the bike i think. i was scared out my mind of the thing when i got it. as soon sa you aren't afraid of your ride you start doing stupid things. where you feel like you've mastered it. which is why io think i see mroe people get hurt on little 80's and 125cc pitbikes. my two bits lol ~pat

All true words pat. And enother way of addressing the issue. But a 40 year old should have more common sence then a teen. I know not always true! But like you said you already had 2 years of riding, And did not have to learn on a power house. No WAY a 14 year old no matter the size should go out and get a YZ250 as a verry first bike! And as YOU stated that goes for a 40 year old as well.

true true of course lol. but. i know form experience, when your a big teen. you dont have a lot of money. you want something you will be able to ride for a long time without having to get something new when you outgrow it. i went with teh 150 first because i was a pansy lol, probably saved me a lot of broken apendages though your right. so yeah, a 250 might be big. but i think if you dont have the sense to ride right on a 250. you wont have the sense on a 125. you cna kill yourself going 65/70 as well as 85. heck you can get yourself killed on a bike that is to small too. that cna also be dangerous can it not? ~pat

If you look back here somwhere i was talking about the bike that hurt the most riders that i know is the YZ80. And was always ther little brothers and friends come over (Good riders) and take it for a SPIN lol. No respect, And bam...There it is ! Always a broken leg lol. And at young teen a YZ125 will keep you happy for years no matter the size (Within reason) and learn the skills to not get hurt when you move up. And as i'v stated it's the FUN factore that keeps people and kids in our little sport. And a bike is not a pair of sneakers you buy for your kid a size to big to grow into. If the bike is to big and scared ALL the time, he /she will not have fun and ride tight witch will cause bad riding skills and if they get hurt, Might not want to continue with the sport as it was not much FUN to begin with. Now your stuck with the bike any way!
