O.K. this is new to me...I am rebuilding a clutch in a YZ250 2000...I replace the plates drive/driven with a set from MOOSE (that was the quickest set available) I installed them like I do any other set of plates and when I put the bike back together and yes they are installed correctly I double and triple checked them then I had the clutch adjusted properly and nothing not a thing I took it apart and put it back together 4 times just to make sure I did it right and each time the same results not a friggin thing...all the specs for the plates are the same as stock...anyone got any ideas I have done hundreds of clutchs and this is a first for me...

I filed the basket down a bit it had some grooves but nothing serious..I am a bit confused...suggestions please...at this point I am even lookin for a macgiver methed

Did you change both fiber and steel plates? You said the specs are the same as stock, did you check the thickness of the steel and fiber plates with a caliper? Sometimes the thickness will be wrong sence these things are mass produced.

Dont know yz4me. If the plates are right, none are missing, the backing plate is there then maybe something is wrong push rod 1 or 2. Or the push rod lever assembly.

a combo. i changed 3 things at once. one, i changed my springs. this helped but didnt change the weird feeling in the clutch. the clutch wouldn't pull in. it felt like i was pulling a cable that was attached to a concrete wall. the second and third thing i did. teh basket was grooved. i switched it out with a spare i had. and at the same time i noticed that there were two friction plates. and 2 steel plates back to back. so the friction plates, were catching on the grooves even worse then they would have because they were back to back! So i would check the order again. make sure it starts and ends on the correct plate and everything between as well. also make sure there are nooo grooves. sorry t'was a bit long winded    ~pat

always always always change the springs when replaceing clutch plates. the springs sag out after use. it like changeing a piston in a motor but not replacing the ring. they both need done.

I am wondering what the clutch feels like when it is pulled in. if it pulls in all the way but does nothing, then yeh springs can and probably is the issue. but, if it was like what mine felt like. where the clutch wouldn't pull in. just had a weird springy stretching feeling. i dont even know what was up with that still. ~pat

well funny you should say springs I put a new set in last spring (07) and thought mabye they would be o.k. to use but thats the only thing that isnt new so I am ordeering a new set tomorrow and the basket is pretty grooved up its been filed a few times so I have a new one of those coming aswell...oh well that except for the foot pegs are the last thing to replace...now everything except for the frame, rims, are new so I gues this is kind of a 2000 ish 2008 yz 250
