OK so I picked my cr 80 up last night and parked it in the garage until I get some safety gear. Is there a good on-line site that has everything at a decent price? I found offroadcloseouts.com and they have a large selection but i'm not sure if its priced high. Any tips on what to get at this point would be great as I don't even have a helmut yet.

http://www.bobscycle.com/ but it is always good to go to a store and buy your gear.
How old are you? how tall? what is your weight? and Shoe size?

Motosport.com is better in my opinion. You will need, Jersey, Pants, Boots, shin/need guards, elbow guards, chest protector, gogles and a good helmet. I would say get a HJC helmet, they are a good bargin for the protection it provides. All the other stuff is your choice. All basically does the same. :-) Hope that helps, and have fun!

"Answer" makes a boot called "fazer" and it it $99.00 and that is what i got and thats the cheapest i could find brand new, "hjc" makes helmets for $89.00 that is what i got, and i just used my hockey pads under jeans and that worked for pading so if you got any hockey soccer or football padding that could work, and i got "scott" goggles for $25.00 good cheap pair, and a "MSR" Shirt for $20.00. I was just like you I just bought my bike but couldnt ride it for weeks until I got the money to buy all my stuff so i found the cheapest stuff i could get but it all works great so far.

I wouldn't try to find the cheapest boots unless they retail for a lot and you got them cheap. Look for some gaerne sg10, alpinestars tech 6 or the berik ovs pro.

Ya, I wouldnt want to find the cheapest boots but when you dont have any gear and you have no money you cant just go out and buy a brand new pair of alpinestars...

THor gear is good. It was kinda expensive but I think they will last for a while. i have Aplinestar boots I really like them. Kturn00 Why do you need shin gaurds if you have boots. I don't have elbow pads either and I crashed on my elbows and they are okay. They wont protect you from broken arms but will protect from scratches though

Helmut successfully purchased. Ebay was a great idea! The boots are another story. I think i'll have to try them on before I buy them.

Is it totally necessary to use motocross boots or would some other above the ankle boots be fine? I'm in a little bind. I really want to try on the boots before I purchase tham so that leaves eBay out. The motorcycle dealers around here charge full retail value which is outrageous. I'm thinking a pair of paratrooper boots would fit the bill but I don't know how hard it would be to shift in them. Any ideas?
