Screws on the top of the carb itself? If so - use WD-40 and let em soak.
As for the needle - it has grooves in it. They are not numbered. The groove closes to the blunt end of the needle is #1 and the one closest to the pointy end is #5 (or #7 on some needles)

How come every time we do a 2-stroke jetting project, the proverbial Raped Ape invariably gets mentioned? Coincidence - I don't think so...

haha, thats funny, lol, my buddie said it and it was the craziest sh it ive ever heard, but since ive just done the main, it doesnt sputter, but(theres always a but) it does do it a little, but i mean a little, only when im reving it up, cant notice it when im riding, like once every 3 minutes little, but i guess that will be fixed when i move the needle and the pilot jet ittl bee good,
but i got a ?, what does the oilot jet have to do with it?, will it get me more snap on the bottom?

yes after you move the clip you may have to put that bigger main back on.

There are two ways needles are held in. One way is with a 6mm hex cap. It's aluminum and you use a socket (6mm) to get it off. The other way is by friction. The throttle spring goes into the top of the slide. Inside the spring is the throttle cable. Where the cable joins the slide, there is a white plastic piece. you need to pull the spring up and hold it - the white piece should come up with it. Then push down and wiggle the cable to free it from the slide. Once done, the needle should just fall out of the slide when you turn the slide upside down.
As for your pilot question The pilot circuit is a carb within the carb - it affects the mixture to varying degrees from idle all the way to full throttle.

yeah i got it off ad all ajusted, i got to test it out and all that good stuff, ut not now, i just feel like relaxing, just wanna take it easy, il get out there in an hour, but they had a 40 pilot last time i went up there, and went back up there to just to get it and try it and they didnt have it!!!!, so i got to wait, which sucks, and i see whta you mean cause the pilot looks totally different than the other ones,

totally dialed in is a pipe dream - just so you know ![]()
If the temps change more than 5 degrees the jetting will be slightly off. If you rise over a few hundred feet in altitude the jetting will be a little off. Of the barometric pressure or humidity changes a little bit, the jetting will be a little off. Heck - if the gas you buy this week has a slightly lower specific gravity than the stuff you got last week, the jetting will be a little off!
Get it dialed in pretty good, tweak the airscrew daily, and rejet if the temps or altitude change significantly and enjoy your bike. My God - I'm creating an army of Chud's

i know, i know but cant we all dream?
i noticed the temp change when it was humid and hot today it ran worse, when it rained and cooled off it ran better, its wierd, but im gonna start running 93 octane, cause its purer, its what i run in my chainsaws, but there premixed 50:1 waaaaaaaaaay to lean for the dirtbike.
now what about the airscrew, inform me more on that one, ive messed with it and stuff but i dont know what im doin, lol
hey theres nothin g wrong with an army of jet-i's but hell ,if it wasnt for you helpin me out it would be sittin in a shop gettin messed with, but instead im learning myself and having fun and learning my bike at the same time, that way i can diagnose mt problems, but what do you mean, when its hotter i need to put a larger main in right, cause thats the way it was acting today, and i could make small changes with the airscrew right?, and i guess im gonna have to break down and buy a jetting kit huh?

93 is no more pure than 87, it will just keep your motor from suffering pre-ignition.
Airscrew - using a tachometer, set the airscrew so that you get the highest RPM at idle.
The only thing that concerns me about an army of Jet-I's is this... I really like helping you guys, but don't turn into me - I spend 3 times as much of my free time tuning my bikes, as I do riding them.. it's not good.
When it's hotter out, you need a smaller main. Make minor adjustments with the airscrew. As for jet kits - just by the jets you need.

An army of chainsaw wielding, CR125 riding, jet-i, Skip-wannabes? Prepare for Mikuni ape jetted armageddon!
Muddy, why are you using prem gas in your chainsaws?
And Skip is right about the jetting pipe dream. What's golden today, probably will be crap tomorrow.
Skip I was thinking the exact same thing per our conversation about setting the airscrew. My thought: He must spend hours just preppin his bike, before he rides.
