He has a past history as a slacker.  He is hot tempered with no control.  He has been known to party in excess.  He is unreliable to show up at events, promotions, and interviews.  Recently he has been having a lot of trouble with the law.  I don't know if he thought he could get away with it because of his championship status or what.  His recent arrest the night before a race apparently has been the final straw with the AMA and his team.

has a past history of a slacker? *** i'd like to see you go 20 laps at glen helen. i don't know what all you girls are crying about but it's racing man. that's how it works. also, the two years of service after high school is the most assanine thing i've ever heard in my life. you're probably the one who is uneducated. read a book man. for people sayin' ya gotta be 18 to be pro.. he's like 20 years old. stop hatin'. j-law is the man. he's representing the sport like it should be.

No, he is over 21 as I recall.  Do a search on the internet for Jason Lawrence; you'll fine enough stuff to fill a novel.

He is a very talented rider; that can't be disputed.  One of the few who can hang with Villapoto.

The part thats often overlooked in this media frenzy is the bottom line is he is on a self-destructive pattern which is sad; I think people are so caught up in the circus of storys and events no one realizes he could use some helping guidence.  Hopefulley he can mature a bit and straighten out before he is listed as one of the great "could have beens...".

I agree, he is no slacker (and as I stated in several posts he is a very talented rider in all respects and one of the few who can hang with Villapoto).

But, he is not representing the sport as it should be, in my opinion.  If he continues on in his present actions his troubles will only get worse ( his run ins with the law etc at or near events).

I think thats a point thats missed; forget Yamaha of Troy and the AMA; his actions have threatened his livelihood and possible future employment in the sport.

Its not like it was back in the '70s and even '80s where this type of conduct would be more overlooked (whether we like it or not).  Thats just where the sport has evolved (where all the riders and team members are under the spotlight and any action considered out of the ordinary is immediately posted and dissected by many bench racers who weren't there and don't even know the partys involved!).

Also, everyone who posts here is entitled to an opinion, and others may agree or disagree and state their side of it.  Please do not use personal insults ("i don't know what all you girls are crying about ").  While the norm at a lot of dirt bike forums, we don't do that here.

He needs to learn to respect himself other fellow racers and the ama. Till he learns that i dont think he should be allowed to race. He needs to be greatful for what he has. People would kill to have what he has or had. As for excuses as a rough upbrining ha! what doesnt kill you only makes ya stronger. If he doesnt want to end up flipping burgers he better get off his dang high horse (dirtbike) quick.

Oooh I think I touched somebody's "I Luv J-Law" button.

Being a slacker does not mean he is in bad physical shape.  It is a mental attitude towards yourself, and the people around you.  It is an "I don't care" attitude that is selfish and negative.

The 2 years service idea is common in other countries, and is seems to be of good success there.  I said what I said about minimum age requirements because Jasons problems started years ago when he first turned pro, and they are just now catching up to him.  J-law is not the only rider to have been given the problem of too much money, pressure, and responsibility at too young of an age.

I don't hate Jason either.  He is a very talented rider, with a commonly bad past.  I have seen many kids growing up these days with a single parent houshold, or being raised by their grandparents.  Everyone seems to carry a little extra baggage.  And mostly the boys seenm to have a big chip on their shoulders.  Like Dave said he needs to get his personal life in order to derail the destructive path he is on.  Hopefully being suspended and losing his ride will be his big wake up call before it gets even worse.

As for your attacks against me.  I am college educated.  I am an electrician, and I read an average of 2 books a week.  I am currently writing 2 different novels with a third on the back burner.  In the past I competed in track and feild, played AA Hockey, averaged 20 miles a day on my MTN bike, and worked landscaping.  While not nerly as fast as J-Law, I could have easily rode to my full potential for 30min. plus 2 laps.  Now I work a factory job, and spend most of my spare time watching my kids play sports.  So no I can not ride for that long anymore.

This sport, like it or not, is now a corperatly sponsered event.  There is a lot of money involved, and for this money the sponsers expect a certain level of proffesionalism that Jason has not provided.
