If the plugs good, gas is fresh and carbs clean its either jetting or electrical. Was the bike running good before it died? Is the plug wet after trying to start it?

I'm gonna let skip and woods chime in. What did the old plug look like? Was it black, brown, what color? Did you clean the carb? If so are the floats set?

It shouldn't. An engine needs very few things to start and run. Compression(you said you have), spark(you say the electricals ok, but how do you know?), fuel/air mix(jetting), nd it has to be timed right. Is it even trying to start? Are you getting a spark at the plug when grounded out so you can see?

Can the bike be push/pull started? Was the cylinder in good condition?

this is tricky, first time i did it i cracked my nuts and ripped my shorts and boxers halfway to china. but this is how i do it, put the bike in neutral, get running as fast as you can down hill with the bike, jump up on the bike and as soon as you do click the bike into 2nd gear. not teh best for your bike but it forces it to either start or just skid. o and if you bounce up and down sort of on the suspension that ussually helps.

now to your oil question. i believe switching from synthetic to semi synthetic or w/e when htere is still gas mixed in your tank, so the two unlike oils mix can mess up your running. but as far as i know this only makes it fowl plugs. ~pat

That trying to start and back fire is common with a bad or wrong gapped plug. Did you adjust your air/fuel mix? Also could be timing. Have you checked all of that?
