Hi.
Been doing some research and looking around and fixed my focus on the TTR230 as my first bike.
I'm starting of new to dirt bike riding, but want to start with good trails.
Is there a complete beginners guide that you would recommend?
Also, about the TTR230 - any things I should know about this bike during the break in period? How long does a break in period usually last anyways?
Thanks. Dean

there isnt really much to dirtbikes. a beginner should ride in field the first week to get a feel for the bike. there are training courses that you could look into. they are usually one class and they teach you propper saftey and how to correctly ride. if you ever end up wanting more there are more advanced classes that usually last one weekend

elko, thank you for your reply.
Do you have an comments on the TTR230?
How is it for power on rough trails?
Do you think the clearance is good for some rough trails and rocks here and there?
Thank you.

What is your hight, waight, and how rough are the trails? As for a manual your owners manual will tell you everything you need to know. As for riding, I have a few manuals that came with my YZs that tells you how to ride and practice and everything. It's perfect for beginers. You can p.m me and i will send you one if you wan't. Stick up kid can attest to that i keep my word and not just a nut lol. let me know.

Hi.
I'm 185lb and 5'10.
The trails are mostly old railway beds that have the track taken up, so mostly gravel on those trails. Some over trails have some rocks in there, a little mud here and there, but nothing I don't think will be able to get me stuck.
I will take a number of reads through the manual, thank you.
Check you pms. - thanks!
My interests (right now) are not racing or jumping much... but I'm bound to find some smaller jumps on the trails. Is the TTR230 ok for some smaller jumps ( say 2, 3 or 4 foot jumps, or going off embankments with my weight (185lb)?
Thank you

i personally dont like it. i think you would be better off with a 125 two stroke or a 250 four stroke. i just think you would be more comfortable and they are better power.

chud, ah, I'm not sure.. but I'm getting a great deal on a TTR230 2008, later this week! My first bike ever, really looking forward to it, but trying to take things slow, learning and reading now. I will be starting to learn just acceleration, stopping and of course shifting a few gears *( up and down ) for the first day.

Thanks for the notes, however, just wanted to let everyone know I was looking for a trail bike, being my first bike, and WOW. I'm loving my new TTR-230. It has more power then I thought, no problems with hills and I've hit a few small jumps and no problems for what I want to do.
This bike is a perfect fit for me.
hope that helps. Cheers.
