yzwoods - oh yeah!! Totally. I read it and reading it again now. I've been negotiating hills lately and finding my way through some pretty cool trails through the woods and some coast lines around here.

Just learning now how to get over logs and other obstacles that I find along the way.

it's a blast and that manual is great woods, again, I thank you!

TTR230, great trail bike!
Cheers.

muddycreek: Thanks for the reply. Yep, having a blast just riding around on the trails for now! Actually some of these trails are pretty tricky, with some pretty big rocky areas, bog and water and rough hilly areas. I have to say sometimes its a pretty fun adventure and a challenge getting through some areas. I love it!

As for maintenance, I've read the manual a load of times now, I've had the first service on the bike at the shop, and I wash the bike after each day I ride. I've adjusted the chain a couple times now. I've picked up some rust check oil and I've been oiling the kick stand, clutch and other pivot points as well as lubing up the throttle and clutch cables to be sure they are working smooth.
What else should I lubricate on my TTR230 to be sure everything is ok?

Ah, this reminds me, I'll need to check the air filter to be sure its clean, just to check and see how it works.

Thank you again.

whats up kz's @$$. the bike is fine. for trails if thats what your gonna do. I just dont recommend it for people that want to jump a lot, or for like tracks and stuff lol. And if it is an 08, there is no way in hell its gonna blow anyimte soon. Those bikes were over designed for reliability. You could hold it pinned in any gear for minutes and it wont ever blow. assuming you keep it clean, and well maintained. I'm glad you like it man. keep up the great riding ehh ~pat
PEACE GUYS ITS BEEN A BLAST!!!!! ~patrick

elk: Thanks for the note on greasing. You mention greasing the front and rear wheel - which sections, the axel?  I'm using 'rust check' like this: that I picked up at the dealer, I'm guessing that is ok to lub the throttle cables, clutch cable and pivot points.

How does one lub the swing arm  -  I see two nipples very low on my bike just up from the swing arm - I guess I need a grease gun to get down in there?

thank you.

atkkid250: Thanks for your note also. Yeah, I'm enjoying the bike, totally on the trails. However, there are a few jumps that I'm working on, just small ones, maybe 1foot to 2 foot high right now. I would like to maybe do some 3-4 foot jumps someday with my TTR230, but that is about it. Do you think it will be ok on a 3-4 foot jump. I'm 180lbs.

thanks.

I hate to burst your bubble but the TT-R230 is a great trail/play bike and an excellent starter bike.

A TT-R230 even if negelected will run forever (you are getting it confused with racing 4-strokes).

I started my son out on a TT-R125 so he would learn all the skills correctly to be ready for more powerful bikes (a YZ-85 as a second bike and his current 2008 YZ-125).

To be honest I would not recommend a 125 or 250 2-stroke to a beginner.

For the type riding he is describing he likely would not like a 125 or 250 at this point.  It would likely be hard for him to ride and foul plugs a lot.

Don't be in such a hurry to bash other peoples rides.

Take it slow and easy; it will let you know when its jumped far (high) enough.  There are a couple CRF-230's and a TT-R230 that ride the intermediate MX track where we ride.

92rm: thank you, I've just updated my avitar with it!

DLHamblin: ok, will do, thank you.

I'm taking it slow thus far. I've been reading up on riding position and stance and how to get up/down hills etc.. ( thanks for the manual yzwoods! ).

I enjoy learning and this bike on these trails, awesome time!

I try my best to take care of it and I want to learn how to adjust and maintain the bike as I learn more about it.

Thanks guys, you are a great help!!

Cheers.
