Well fist off, hey everyone im new here, sorry i've been searchin for a good answer in the archives but couildnt find a good answer....maybe its just me.....but here goes

Ive rode bikes all my life, mostly Quads, but a had a 98 CR250 when i was 14, and i was okay on it....im lookin for somethin new after riding quads for 5 years straight. But I really dont know what Im lookin for.... I ride almost nothing but trails, tight, rutty, screwed up trails, and ill need something with a headlight....okay, next, i dont want it to be too big for me...but i want to have something that will get moving pretty quick...but i need reliability too....SO does anybofy have any good suggestions, or should i just stick with quads?

if you want a headlight you may want to go with a crf450x or possibly a crf250x they both have headlights and break lights also they are better for a trail rider also you dont have to do valve adjustments every race like the mx models the x at the end meens that they dont design the bike to suck every pony out of the enguine it is built to last longer then the mx models

that is it for honda i dont know much about yamaha 4 stroke models but someone else on the board will know

quazy has a good point. the x models are detuned, meaning they are the same engines as the racing models but tuned down a bit to get better reliability. i like 2 strokes though. how did you feel on that 250 of yours when you were 14? you can get 2 strokes with head lights that are very reliable with teh exception of hte rutine topend job every once and awhile. i like them for trails better as well. i believe ktm makes some nice headlighted version no? ~pat

I aggree with the 250X or 450X idea. They have headlights and are very reliable. If you want to go 2 stroke, look at the KTM EXC/XC's. They make a 200, 250, and 300. The KDX 200/220 is also an option. All the bikes listed above are good trail bikes that have headlights.

thats right honda! i forgot about the kdx's. very good bikes. anyway. yeah quazy, you can hook a head light up to anything if you ducttape a battery to it lol. just some bikes come wiht them from the factory, and others have the hook ups and the wires allready there, just need the light. ~pat

a 2 stroke can have a headlight. it just needs a little bit modding to be done but pretty easy to do. and for the kind of riding your saying i think a 250 two stroke would be best but ktm has bikes that have an easy hookup for a headlight. so no modding will be needed, you just need to buy one plug it in and and install it. but crf-x models are nice, so are the wr and klx 250r models.

I'm not sure about the newer KTM's, but my 04 has a stock headlight on it.

my friend has an 06 KTM 200 XC and it has all the wiring already built into it for lights, just didn't come with any.
