I've never ridden a 125, so I guess I was pretty ignorant to say it was slow. I made the jump from my XR100R to my dad's KX250 about 6 months ago. About 5 months ago my dad bought a ktm 200exc and I ride that mostly. So before saying that a 125 was slow, I should probably ride one.

Just be smooth on the throttle when coming to a jump and you'll be fine, but it doesn't hurt to keep good body position either. Also try not to hit the powerband right before a jump (assuming you aren't already in it) or you'll be attempting a backflip. It takes time to get used to a 2 stroke but they are a blast indeed.

Long live 2 strokes!!

omg i love hitting jumps wfo. the first time i did was a couple years ago i was on my 80. coming up to a jump that is about 6 feet high and i hit it 5th gear wide open. because its flat, the jump is like a small hill that comes from a flat landing that is maybe 200 to 300 yards long. and i got about 15 feet in the air because the jump is a little bit flatter but i traveled about 120 feet. now i am working on hitting this jump on the side of a different hill. the hill looks like an upside down V. with a jump on the side. well i am trying to jump over the top of the hill. its on a mx track too. But its a lot of fun.

oh yea you can haul ass on that bike.

you can also haul your ass straight to the hospital with that nasty power :P

im gettin better with the bike day by day. i can jump it good if i keep my body positioned near the rear end of the bike and maintain a steady speed

As said, if you are truly at the rear you can end up getting pitched over the bars pretty easy; you normally jump with your body centered over the bike except for unique circumstances.

Im not really ON the rear, im standing up at the center of the bike but my butt hangs out a bit toward the rear.

If i just stand up centered in attack position my rear end of my bike goes flying up and i almost endo and crash

I found leaning towards the rear a tad helped me out

Man I love these guys that say this bikes slow, thats slow. I stepped up to a very modded yz 490 from an xr 100 when i was 13. That was a rocket ship. But even now, my lil 01 yz 125 never runs outta power espiceally on the japanese tracks i ride now, and I'm 6' and 200 pds. I can manhandle it, but that makes it all the more fun.
