I'd say get a KTM 200exc. That's what I ride and it's GREAT for trails and is good on the track too. It's about as light as a 125 but has the power of a 250.

Ya I know. I got really lucky with my bike. It's LOADED with aftermarket parts and stuff. It even has heated hand grips.

Ya. I think he should look for a YZ but if he stumbles upon a KTM 200exc at a decent price, he should buy it.

now bryton. you say that because you have the 200. but.. have you ever ridden anything else? i think your opinion is biased. i myself do not own the yz250. never have. would like to though. i've ridden them many times. many different ones and none of them have had any issues.as for the ktm 200exc. i knwo them by reputation only. and when you compare the complaints of the ktm to the yamaha. even though there have been many more yz's sold, teh exc has more complaints. ~pat

I'm not biased at all, I jst rly like the bike and was giving him advice. I've only had the bike for 6 months. I also have a KX250 and rode an xr100r for like 3 years so I'm not biased at all. I havnt had a single problem with the bike so i was jst giving him advice.

allright. thank you for clearing that up i appreciate it. to many people try to coem on to these types of threads. only to be ads for their own bike. i've seen people who have never ridden anything but crf230's and they come on to someone who wants to race and will say to get the 230 cause its great. i like how you've had the kx before. see thast where you can rely on your own personal experience and make inferences vs. telling everyone to get teh bike you have. allright. i like you bryton. your cool. whast your real name if you dont mind me asking? or a nickname perhaps? ~pat

get whatever *** color you want. this little jabble of ymaha no ktm, it really pisses me off. get the bike that is in best condition, newest and best you can afford. look for things like top end and suspension maintenance. look beyond the plastics. if the plastics are scratched up, who gives a *** that matters for nothing. look for places that got welded, if anything needed welded then there is probably a story behind it and not a good one. just because they have gear and aftermarket parts doesnt mean anything. the gear probably wont fit you and the bikes are already good as it is and dont need aftermarket parts to make it better.
