so me and my buddy were ridin out at keswick dam...and we on this trail u go about 4th-5th gear, and he was around the corner from me and i come up to him and he is stopped. his bike stopped. it wouldnt kick over, the kicker was stuck, wouldnt budge at all.  we started taking his engine apart and found metal shavings in his crankcase...any ideas what happened? his piston wouldnt really move either. thx

Tons of things could have been the cause.  had he been through deep water?  if so he prob. hydrolocked it and bent the rod.  he could have thrown the crank bearing as well. this could also casue it to lock up.  ive had a c clip come apart adn lock my bike up.  need more info though.  is teh bike a 2stroke or 4.  good luck

when you have a bike pinned like that then suddenly let off the throttle the piston is being starved of full and fuel lowers the temperature engine. so when you do that the piston swells and will seize and the bad part is that you are going that fast and when the piston seizes you usually end up with a lot problems.

you are going to have the engine split so that all the metal can be taken out. so next you have a bike pinned let off the throttle slower so that you dont starve the engine of fuel.

Well its a 4, and this is going to get expensive as it sounds like you seized and have bottom end issues as well.
What elk said is right and could cause this but i have a feeling the rod went first.
This is a rebuild. But in 5th if you had a seize, big problems as was stated.
What does the piston and jug look like?

im not sure if he just "let off the throttle"...cause he said he was pinnin it an then it kinda bogged then went then seized.

and what about jumps? if your pinnin it them let off...is that the same thing or no?

I did the same thing with my kx250. He probly had too much rpms in too little of a gear. He probly needed to shift. You probly need to get a crankshaft rebuild kit and put new bearings in. You might also want to see if the shift forks are bent.

umm it costed him about 800 bucks. he got a new crankshaft and some gaskets and little things not what sure all of it.  he also got new piston, not sure what kind.
and yes i have same bike but its an 04, and i wish it wasnt cause i hate the valve problems lol.

also elko.. he said he was pinnin it and then it bogged a little, then went again and then seized. and wouldnt "pinnin it then let off" be the same with like going off a jump? or is it diff. thx

To many varieables to say. Would have had to be there. Was there enough oil, shifting, last top end and maint ect...
And to awnser when your jumping you are not in 5th WOT on a track or trail. 3rd and you can throttle down and cluch in to keep rpm's up.
