I went trail riding with a friend today. when my friend got stuck I needed something to lean my bike against. The closest thing was a sapling. The sapling did not work out so well and my bike fell over as I was helping my friend. I thought oh great now it's going to be flooded. That turned out to be the least of my worries. My clutch lever was toast.
![]() I ended up just getting my bike started and limped back to the truck in first gear. Back at the truck I was bumming because my day was awash, and my friend obviously did not want to stop riding as his bike was running fine. After some serious brain smoking we came up with this great idea.

![]() The vice grips wound up being just the right size, and the duct tape held it in place fairly well. I did have continuously adjust the grips into just the right spot for full leverage. Other than that my clutch worked flawlessly for the remainder of the ride.
I had to get some pics of this get up once I got home and share with everyone here as I thought it was both hilarious and imaginative. And Macgyver was right you can use duct tape for anything.
Anyone else with a great Macgyver tale?

I welded a socket to my kickstart lever and used a bent breaker bar as a kick starter one time. We welded it use two car batteries and a truck winch and some dangerous stuff to bend the break bar. lol

Good work Bill. Its always a good idea to carry tools with u. I'm amazed at how many people I ride with bring nothing and then give u the "deer in the headlights" look when they break down.
I always carry a spare lever and perch and i keep a spare clutch cable and throttle cable in my airbox.

I try not to put anything in my airbox. The less air volume available the harder your bike has to work. On a trail ride the little bit of stuff ML adds wont affect much but if you get carried away you start losing power. I wonder if anyone makes small saddle bags for dirt bikes?

I have not found any saddle bags for dirt bikes, but u can buy many different fender bags. I was also looking to see if there was anyone who made fender racks, and, after a couple hours of sifting through Google pages, i have found only this one company that makes them for a wideish variety of dirtbikes! http://cycleracks.com/index.php

Bills right, try to mot dump the whole tool box in there.
And definitely not anything in like a plastic bag that could cover ur aircleaner and choke it out.
