Right now I am using castor 927 but was told it is to gummy and will gunk up the motor.  I want to change oils but not sure what to go to and what ratio to run.  I am running 40:1 with the castor 927.  Please help.

Castor (bean oil) is dirty, and more difficult to jet.  Otherwise the stuff works great.  For the everyday rider I recommend BelRay H1R at 32:1.

I just bought some 2R yesterday.  I have yet to try it as I still have two tanks worth of H1R left.  I will let you know what I think of it after I use it.

I never use Klotz premix.  I have had more than one mechanic warmn me against the stuff.  It is the worst about leaving behind a carbon buildup.

in this order with the first i like the most these are the only 3 i would use.

bel ray h1r, honda hp2, yamalube 2r.
like i said i like bel ray the most and the yamalube the least. i personnally use honda hp2 because its cheaper then bel ray.

I used Maxima 927 and loved it in my old 490, but over here all thats available is yamalube and royal purple. I use the yamalube it burns clean and jets fairly easy. My self I like castor oil better but its everyones choice.

MTD,
Dirt bikes have different needs than outboard motors.  They are also not on a consistant throttle like an outboard would be.  Stick to oils designed for MX bikes.  These are race bikes with very special needs.  Do not use the Spectro at it's claimed 100:1 ratio.  Run it 32:1 jst like everything else.

I use yamalube 2R, but I'm about to switch to Red Line because it burns better and doesn't gum up your motor. I run 40:1 and everything is fine.

Long live 2 strokes!!
