Hey All,
I know I am in the Kawi forum, but getting back into riding after riding Honda CR 250's years ago. I liked Honda years ago, but just seems they haven't been competitive to KX or YZ these days. And goin' with a 2-stroke, I know, I know, but I just love them!

I have two questions: What year did kawi last make a 2-stroke and how do they compare to the YZ 2-stokes.  Let me know if you have any input.

The last year Kawasaki made 250 2 strokes was 2007, the last year they made 125 2 strokes was 2005, and they stiil make a 85 and 100 2 stroke. If i were you id get a YZ because yamaha still makes them, and they are twice the bike that KXs are. they are much more ridable and have more usable power. The RM 250s are also very good.

The only reason a four-stroke can beat a two-stroke is because of the double displacement advantage

the cr250 and ktm250sx actually tied with the most powerful engines. the only problem with the cr250 is that its the hardest engine to ride. it runs like a 125, but it can wheelie right past people in muddy races.

the rm is set up for turning. its can accelerate very fast. but not good on long straights.

the yz has the easiest engine to ride.

the yz and cr have the best suspensions.

i wouldnt go with the kawi if i were you unless you plan on spending alot of money to make that chasis competitive.

the new thumpers they came out with are the best bikes in the class imo but they havent really put too much r and d into the two strokes since they stopped making the 125 in 05'

the yami on the other hand like said before is the bike that i would look into if you are going to buy new. either that or a ktm

125's have no bottom end. you have to ride the piss out of them. 100% full throttle all the time and keep it in the meat of the powerband.

a 250 has power everywhere, it can be ridden any you like.

the newer cr250's they have to stay in the meat of the powerband. like the dont have bottom end power but do at the same time. such as a bike with no bottom end power will have problems in muddy races but the cr250 can wheelie right past your competition. it is a very tricky engine to ride. if you can master it you wil be golden.
