Thinking of making the jump from a 2-stroke to a 4-stoke. I currently have a KX 250 and really only ride in the woods/trails and love the thing! Some have told me that jumping to a 450 4-stroke would would be fun, but would be too much power and too heavey and slow me down in the woods. I just wouldn't be able to throw it around like I do the 2-stroke 250. But I would kick butt on a track or sand. Anyone out there come from the same spot. Any 4-stroker better than the others? Honda? Kawai? Yami? What about the maintenence!

thank you for making 4 threads on this.
did you look at your original thread. i will say the same thing and this is unbiased. the 250 two stroke is the king of the woods. why do you think all the woods racerc (gncc) all still use 250 two strokes.
dirt rider just had an article on this in july and they said the 250 two stroke is the best mx bike. they compared a 250f, 250f bored to 290, 450f, and 250T. it is lighter, more flickable, it has similar power to a 450 but weigh similar to a 250f.
if you do decide to get a four stroke get a 250f. the 450f is horrible on the trails and if you plan to race mx then you can only race a 450f in the open class but yuou can race the 250f in the lites and open class.
i plan to get a brand new bike in the spring, i currently have 125 and i am ready to move up to the 250T but i may go to four strokes just to try them and they have a higher resale value and i dont want to buy a dead bike. and i am getting a 250f although i can ride 450f.
any color will do, i personally think honda has better 4 strokes.

Yea, sorry about all the threads, I just want to catch all the forums. I somewhat share the same opinion as you. I have a new KX with hand guards, skid plate and putting in a flywheel weight and new pipe - the ultimate woods bike. I just have never riddin these four strokes everyone is braggin about and just was wondering what I was missing out on, but for what I do...sounds like not much! Thanks for the input. I do appreciate it a lot!

most people on this forum use the active post button, so it doesnt matter. everyone will see it no matter where you put your thread. the acive post button brings up al the threads in order from the most recent post. this is a very small forum so there is no reason to worry about having it placed in a specific place.

Dirt Rider picked the 450 FYI.
450's are not bad in woods. Its funny how people say that yet they will go buy a CRF250X or WR250F, and those weigh more then a 450. I rode my 450 in the tight with no problems. I also have a 250 2 stroke that I rode in woods, aswell as 250F's.

One mans opinion, seems, well bias if I must say, because if the 250 2 strokes really smoked 450's then why would DR also put this.

do you realize that karel kramer is guy that wrote that article.
read the whole article. it says they are heavy and if you are a small guy like RC then a 450 isnt your best option. we do not go 60+ mph on a mx track. for a bike that is lighter more manueverable and throttle is more forgiving. has the power close to a 450 but light as a 250f. the only downside is it doesnt reach 60 mph in 4 seconds. but it is dead even until about 2.75 seconds. but it is better on the drag until you reach about 70 mph.

Your pure ignorant, im done. You give so much wrong info its not even funny.
Its funny how you think you know so much about bikes that you have never ridden.
I mean obviously Dirt Rider is wrong and that article is so wrong, why don't you write them and let them know how wrong they are so you can write columns that start out as "this is an unbias opinion" and are the most bias articles out there.
Good luck to you.

I remember other threads about bikes and people were hating on your posts. I'm 95% sure it was you
