I just got a new chain and sprocket set for my bike and it seems the chain has already strectched after only a month of use. Ive adjusted the chain so its as tight as it will go, but it still has about 3 inchs of slack instead of the recommended 1 and a half inches. My question is, is it possible to take out a link to shorten the chain so my chain wont have so much slack??

i check my chain before every ride. you have to grind the side off one of the links and a link will fall off. becarefull though. one link will make a huge difference.

holy crap. 3 inches? after one month? what brand of chain did you use remind me to never buy this chain. wow. but yeah. as elko said is as i do. use some sort of file or grinder. realy carefully to grind down the flat part of a pin. this will let the pines be pulle out from the other side. and viola! a link is gone. ~pat
PEACE GUYS ITS BEEN A BLAST!!!!! ~patrick

Thanks guys, that make sense to me. but i let my dealer handle the parts ordering. its yamaha ttr 125. They just ordered the stock parts to replace the old one. I wish i had gotten an aftermarket set now

Yeah i was wonderin about takin the master link off and then gettin the other link off. But idk, i dont have any kind of mechanical experience at all. so id probably have to take the bike to shop if i do get a link taken out
