The '01 was the best CR250 Honda had ever produced.  Later models had better frames, suspension, handling but none would ever match the useability of the '01s powerband.  The '00 is a close second.  The '96 was also a great year.

im with bill. the switch to the case reed engine in 2002 pretty much killed the CR250

the engine was more powerful but harder to use. see if you can use a new frame on an 01 engine.

Not really more powerful.  Just more concentrated.  My bike will pull or at least keep up with any modern 250 out there.  Even with my extra heft on it.

You guys are just jealous of the loving relationship I have with my bike. Lol

I ride.  I just don't usually take a camera with me when I do.  Next time I think I will try to tape it to my helmut for some action vid.

No I said the newer CR250s have a powerband more like a 125.  My bike has a well balance powerband with a very strong mid range.

Before the mid 90's yes all 250s had very short powerbands like the 125s.  Pipe devlopments and valve designs have helped spread out the power a lot.

Bill, what year was it that Honda put a funky carb on the 250. I know that it was either 01 or 00. Whatever year it was that they put the odd carb on the bike is what keeps it from being the best year for a CR250.
