drain the gas
take off the float bowl plug and drain gas out of the carb then replace the float plug
i dont know what the cold weather does to coolant or tranny fluid
but i would drain those also
that way next year you can satart with all frash fluids.

BUT during the winter i start my bike up every week or so just because it is good to get the parts moving and to heat her up but if you cant then drain it all

I would not recomend draning the coolent or trans.
Thats just me,I drain and flush for condensation at the begining of the riding season.
And make shure the bike is off the ground on a stand.

One more thing - fog the engine so that it won't rust.  You can use fogging oil (preferable), or a tablespoon of oil inside the saprk plug hole.

If ur not going to start it frequently, I would plug any hole where mice can enter. They love to live in the exhaust and airbox. They will use ur aircleaner as bedding material

LOL, Just saw your name skip and knew i forgot to say oil in the plug hole before i even read your post lol. And i have rubbed my engine and pipe down with oil before and also is fine.
Just clean well when taken out.

Or you can do like me and wheel that puppy indoors.
Oh and plug your exhaust.

I ride mine in the winter.  The snow does not stay very long here.

Thanks for all the tips, well I am up in Toronto and it gets pretty cold in the winters here, so from the advice I will drain the gas from the tank and the carb, leave in the radiator coolant and the gear oil, put the bike up on a stand i will take out my airfilter so the mice dont get to it and plug the exhaust with steel wool.

Fogging comes in a spray can. get it at any automotive store. With ur bike running u spray it in to the carb until it chokes out ur bike. What it does is leave a film of oil on the cylinder walls and protects them from rust by condensation.

All, unless you are going to riding for at least 20-30 minutes and get the motor hot enough to burn off the moisture (water) you are doing more harm than good in starting it in the winter.

When an engine first starts, its creating a lot of moisture in the exhaust, cylinder, and crankcases.  So unless you run the engine long and hard enough to burn this out you are just creating more moisture which can cause rust etc.

So unless you are going to ride its best to not start it in the winter.
