i've got an 89 kx125 that i've been having some problems with since i just got done rebuilding the motor.  it idles high, its never been that high before, and when i take off up hills i have to rev it up pretty good and slip the clutch more then i should in order for it not to stall.  i cleaned reeds out, but still no luck. any suggestions?

there is an idle screw on your carb. ussualy on the right side when your sitting on the bike. a little screw with a flat head ussually, this will adjust your idle, as far as the bogging i got no idea. do you have a manual? this is what everyones gonna ask so i'll spare you lol, if you dont have one dont touch anything until you get one. they are a neccessity. ~pat

89 KX, idle screw is on left of carb with spring or on the choke.
The small screw is the air/fuel screw. Also on left and don't mess with it.
Start bike and warm up good, Then turn the idle screw OUT to decrease idle till it will idle at the bikes lowest rpm without stalling. Should fix it.

the only wierd thing is that when the bike died it idled fine, so im not sure if it would be an adjustment or something else. i havnt touched anything on the carb so its kinda makin me think it might not be an adjustment

If your idle is set to high then your going to lose throttle respounce and have to get on it more to take off. Just adjust for lowest idle as i said and see if that helps.

ok, i adjusted the idle screw and it did nothing, didnt change up or down.  now i know on cars a vaccuum leak will make a car idle high and if you spray brake clean around the leak it will idle down for a few seconds, but if i do that to the intake of the bike, it doesnt do anything, so im stumped still

Look for the air leak around your boot, And your reed sticking open. And on a bike  tourch gas is better as it will not spray the junk all over

At this point make shure your air/fuel screw is adjusted to spec as well.
