Will you guys do a trail comparison between it and a YZ250? More like which is a better all around bike.

thanks for posting these tests online, lately none of the other mags are doing that as much as they used to.
as for the KTM how well does the trans shift while under a load?? with or without the clutch??
and like bill said how would it compare to a yz250,or a yz250 that was modified to equal the price of the ktm??

Its spam. And have really been looking at this bike as a future woods bike and would like to know first off how the suspention is and how it handles. Also the bottom end power compaired to the yz and delivery. PS. Long time pete good to see your still around!

The web test answered most of my questions. But as always I still have a couple
How well has the E-start held up? Any issues with battery life or staying charged? That feature alone has my interest peaked (as a short rider it could be a life saver; well a fall over saver at least)!
Seat height, on the stats you list at 38". The one opinion stated it felt tall for a 5'7" rider, well at 5'6" I wasn't happy to read that; so how much seat foam is there that could be cut down (some KTM's have little to none to start...)
I really saw no negative comments on the suspension (and no mention of "linkless rear") so I assume you all were very pleased with it and the handling. Thats a change too!
I too would like to see a heads up test between the YZ250 and the KTM in trail and track scenerios (I hate to say but I think the winner may not be blue...).
I also think Jimmy has gotten too attached to it to be objective; so have him send it to me to do a short rider opinion of it.

I recently picked up an 08 250XC after selling my 08 250SX. I think the 250XC suspension and engine settings make the bike feel much plusher and easier to ride than the 250SX. I can relate to everything Jimmy Lewis said in his first ride review, especially how well the bike works on a mx track and also how he wanted a little livelier power. Well the red powervalve spring livens up the response and I suppose you could go to the SX head but then it might tire you out quicker. I am curious how you think the new rear shock and fork settings from 09 compare to the 08 250XC. I like these web reviews - you guys give way more detail on all the performance of the bike.

After reading the Sept 2008 DR; new bike section, the obvious question came to me.
If I was looking for a new bike and focused on the KTM's, why would I pick a 250-XC when there is the 300-XC to select? Isn't more better?
How does the 300 and 250 compare?

Good question dave! I thought the 300 was the best, and now the 250 is the best. Will the next KTM you review be the best?

I guess these were all stupid questions, unworthy of answering or discussing. why post this topic if nobody cares what we think?? I know im being harsh, but we are being led to believe we are a part of this magazine and that our input is valuable. is it not??

MJP68 - these are worthy questions. With time divided between getting this site back where it needs to be and testing the 2009 bikes that are rolling out, we can't answer these questions as quickly as we (or you) would like.
That being said, you mention your questions being a part of the magazine, not the website...
And for anyone else who may read these threads but not post a question - we really do what to hear what you want to know about the bikes. We pride ourselves on giving you the best information on the bikes, you can help us focus on the info you most want.

Get this site where it needs to be first, than give the addicts and gurus 1/2off coupons for a new KTM250xc. OH wait: At 1/2 off, I still can't afford one.

Pete, the magazine is what got me interested in this web site. The members and info are what keep me coming back. I view this forum and web site as an extension of the magazine.
I do realize this is a very busy time for the entire staff, but its also and important time for those of us who may be bike shopping as well.
At least my little rant and rave got a response!!
