1984 cr500 issues

It just doesnt want to open up properly. In fifth gear it runs pretty good, its definately something with the carb, I have no idea where to start though. It might be running too rich or too lean, I cant tell.
I might make a video tomorrow of how shitty it runs.
till then, any suggestions?

ok, I dont know about that video now...
kick starting that f**ing* beast caused me to rebreak my right knee, so now im out for another month :'(

awesome, I was able to watch a friend drive the bike today, it seems to bog out in the low RPMs but then it gets better. why is that? I thought these 500s were insane... either theyre not, or mine isint opening up properly ![]() (I think the bikes running too rich)
also, switching from 1st to 2nd is impossible. you need to go 1st, neutral, 2nd. and getting from neutral to 2nd is very hard, why?

Jetting. 500s are insane, when they run good. And you found out first hand, there not nice, innocent bikes when they kick back. My 490(the stock one) broke my foot in high school. Its all in the technique

ok, its not too crucial that is gets done right away, I will be away from the bikes for a week so I got some time.
chinese marine: I broke my knee on my mountain bike in june 07, it hasnt been the same since, very fragile, its been hurting me a lot lately, I had to kick the 500 like 80 times becauase it hasnt been started in years, that finished my knee off. The medial meniscus is now sliding in and out of place randomly, breaking a knee is easily the most painful thing someone could ever experience now I see why gangsters shoot each others knees out...

I understand I got bad knees to. If you get kicking it down good, once its running right, it'll be a 1st or second kick bike, even cold. You ride it much you'll get used to it. Sucks about your knee though, feel your pain brother

skip.. or anyone, do you have any suggestions on what I can do to make the bike run better?
and why doesnt the bike go from 1st to 2nd smoothly, it gets stuck in neutral?

I might if this site doesnt get better, its not very active. you guys are awesome, but I think thumpertalk has a lot more people. Im also not very happy with the new layout, it might get better, who knows.
