Hey all, I know this question has probably been asked a million times, and I am sure you guys are going to tell me that a 125 will be good, ***
I am new to the dirtbike world. I am looking at buying a bike for no more than $1000. I am not quite sure what to do. I would really like a yz250 (I am a yamaha guy) but for one in good shape it is a bit out of my price range. I was wondering if a yz125 would be good enough? I know it would be great for a beginer, but I don't want to wind up getting boared with it. I do trail riding and love hill climbs, and all that good stuff. I want something that is going to be able to rip up hills, and just have enough power to have fun on (pop the front wheel up, and all that good stuff). Oh yea I am 6' and about 180lbs.

You are similar in stature to me and I ride a 125.
You may be hard pressed to find a 250 for 1K, unless it's a basket case.
A 125 will hillclimb if you keep it wide open. It def. has enough power to keep you happy.

here is a vid of me doing a hill climb on my 125. this hill is a lot harder and bigger then what it looks like in the vid. and my bike had screwed up jetting so it doesnt sound ride. you can hear me chop the throttle because it was jetted way rich but this is just to show you that a 125 has plenty of power. o and there is a jump in the middle of the hill htat you can kinda see. i barely went past 1/4 throttle in 2nd gear.

yeah i almost got it but i kind have given up on that since i put the bike up for sale. but its running a little better now. now she runs really strong 1/4 to wfo. my plugs were coming out horrible, my last one fouled on start up and it wasnt even that bad. the top around the threads are fine. no oil on it but on the bridge i think its called is black/brown. before it was jet black covered in oil. it looks the same on the inside so my jetting has to be getting close. i was going to see if i can work it out with air screw because i dont feel like ordering a new jet.
