kickstarter and ?'s on TDC

my kickstarter keeps kicking back at me. it never did this till recently and am starting it the same way i always have. what does the tdc have to do with it and how do i get my bike at tdc

Push the kick lever slowly with your foot until you feel it 'firm up' - that's Top Dead Center. From there, give it a strong, smooth kick all the way through the stroke with NO THROTTLE.
That should help!

the reason it is kicking back is because you are opening the throttle this aint a 2 stroke..dont turn the throttle or you will break your leg

I know a couple of two strokes that'll break your leg if you kick them wrong to. I ride one.......but yes, do not turn the throttle the smallest bit. What kinda bike are we talking? I hope this guy is still around fairly old post
