Hey All, I know I am in the Yamaha forum, but getting back into riding after Honda CR 250's years ago. I liked Honda years ago, but just seems they haven't been competitive to KX or YZ. And goin' with a 2-stroke, I know, I know, but I just love them!
I have two questions: What year did yamaha last make a 2-stroke and how do they compare to the KX 2-stokes. Let me know if you have any input.

Yamaha is STILL making 2-strokes. The 2005 and up are the finest 250 ever made by anybody at any time.. Yamaha really hit a home run with this latest generation.
The YZ motor is broader and criper that the KX motor, and the suspension is worlds better than just about any other 250 - the only one close is the latest gen RM250.
The KX/RM/CR have all been discontinued as of 2007/2008

Well dude I'm gonna have to tell you, you came to the YZ section so most people here are going to have a YZ and gonna tell you that it's better. Now if you go the kx section it's probably going to be the other way around. they're both great bikes, it pretty much just ends up being do you like green or blue better? It's all on the rider!

yeah. blue all the way. they look better, run better and last longer in opinion. they have nicely tuned engines right form teh factory, and the people that have replied have no allegiances to either brand. theres a reason more people ahve the yz then just about ny other 250. ~pat

Yeah - we all work for Yamaha ![]()
seriously though... I like certain Honda's, certain Yamaha's, certain KTM's, none of the KX's though...
in the 125/250 market, though, the YZ is head and shoulders above the rest.

KXs are the most polarizing bikes. You either love them or you hate them. Most riders I know fall into the later group. Those who do love them follow Kawaski with a religious ferver.
