Today I walk into the Honda dealer to pick up some oil and jets. I ask for the main and pilot, have neither. I ask if they can order them in, sure thing, off brand, but only about $4. I thought sweet, but ill check other places.

A couple weeks ago the local moto dealer lost its contract with Honda, giving the Honda car dealership the rights to sell the parts and bikes and what not. I go to the car dealership, ask for a 390 main and a 30 pilot. Guy says, "Do they even make a 390 pilot jet". WOW, i almost died laughing. I say, no its a main and could you check at the back. So he comes front and says ill need to order them. So i order them and after hes got all my numbers and name, he says the main will be 13 bucks plus tax and so will the pilot. I think to myself, what the hell? When did jets get so expensive. I ask the guy, and he says he has no control over the price. So I walk out stunned and horrified at paying 25 bones for 2 dam jets. Friday when I go to pick them up I might start crying knowing I pissed away about 15 bucks. I know its not alot, but come on, do you really think that the car dealerships know chit about mx bikes?  

Not surprising... but sad at any rate!

Do what I did:

Call Sudco (www.sudco.com) and order the following:

Keihin 35,38,40,42,45,48 pilot and 145-180 main
Mikuni 35-45 pilot and 320-420 main
1 pack of Mikuni needle shims, and 1 pack of Keihin needle shims.

All this will cost under $100 and you will have every jet you will ever need, plus the ability to adjust your needles in 1/2 clip increments.  The only things you might ever need are oddball taper needles - and you will rarely need those!

that is like how much my honda bike dealer charges. i use to get all my parts their and this mx shop. the mx shop was a dollar or two cheaper but now i get everything at this wholesale bike shop. but point is they way over charge you.

Thanks skip, but for now ill just try the 390 main and 30 pilot see if it clears anything up. If not, back to the drawing board. Having the jets shipped here to canada and ordering them sounds like such a hassle. maybe im wrong though.  

you know other dealers besides honda dealerships carry jets

I got a $15 main jet from a local retailer and then needle was another $23.

I find the best deals from a local bike repair shop.  They don't sell bikes but they do fix them and have much a much better parts supply stocked up than any dealership I've been to.

very true the mx shop by me did my bike rebuild so he know my bike so it pretty cool  

Next time, check all the online sites that sell oem Honda parts. That is too much $ for jets! Hell I think paying 5$ for them is too much. I was paying 2$ and change for pilots and mains last year.

I had to pay 13$ for a Needle from my local dealer.
