I was looking up the prices for a new piston for my 1982 Honda XL80S, on bikebandit.com and i noticed that its in dark grey lettering, does this mean its discontinued? cus i cant click to buy it, although on that site it will say discontinued if it is, maybe the grey shade means they dont have any left??

Can someone let me know if they still sell a piston or a piston kit for my bike?

Here we go again!

There are not too many of those bikes around, so it is not surprising that the piston is discontinued. I checked with Service Honda, and the stock piston and all the overbore sizes are not available. That is the bad news. the good news is that there are plenty of XR80R pistons available. A 1982 or earlier piston should fit. It make raise the compression a little, but it should work. You may want to check with an expert on those engines. Someone like Engines Only, Powroll or BBR. They may have specifics on jetting upgrades you might need with the higher compression piston. Is there a reason you are changing the piston?  

could you get the cylinder overbored to a piston size that is not discontinued? ~pat

Thanks for replying guys, well the kickstart wont work if i start it, i'll have to jump start it. I know i need knew rings, but i was thinking just incase for the future. but i will definetly look into the xr80 parts. Thanks for the tip, its pretty much the same bike, except mine is for the streets. i also, could bore it, but i dont want to spend the money and i dont think it would be worth the hassle. I will be buying a street bike in the future, but i just wanna have some fun with what i have now lol.
