K so i've been tryin for a hot minute on getting this piston in the cylinder, but I am getting no where. Any advice.. The problem is around the very bottom of the cylinder it is a tad bit bigger, so when I push the rings in, well it fits until it starts to get smaller. The clearences are all good and when I measured the cylinder I went past the bigger end at the bottom.

there is a spot in the piston ring groove that has a little protrubance, thats where the gap in the ring goes. this can make a huge difference. if you know that which you probably do. alls i cna say is get some 2 stroke oil and rub it on the top of the piston and the sidewalls. and line it up as straight up and down as possible. paying close attention to the exhaust and intake ports. ~pat

cool I'll just keep on trying, for the most part the ends are where they need to go and I put 4 stroke oil around it already.. I'll call my friends up when they get off. thanks

Wow what a waste of time.. I just went and bought a piston ring compressor, it was to big because it was for a car.. go figure. I didn't have a hacksaw to trim it, so I heated it up and got a knife and hammer and that worked wonders, yet still the piston wouldn't go in.. so I finally got it in by flipping it upside down and working it with a screwdriver and turning it.. now to put it back in, without flinging the circlip off the balcony, agian..

whats the *** for? could you explain how you used the screwdriver to get the piston in? i mean it probably didnt do anything if you used it to keep the ring down initialy. ~pat

well. im not sure whta you wanna do now. im sure if you just barely used it to keep the piston down your set. if you were prying at it you might have issues. luckily the cylinder sleeve and the piston it eslf is farely durable material. if you are that that worried you can take it back apart. which would suck. and hten you'd have to go through it again to get it back in. errrrhh i hate these types of situations. i feel for you durty gurl i do last bit was sorta a joke. ~pat

no, I took It off, after fighting with the circlip for forever, but that whole piston ring compressor wasn't workin, so I just put the piston back on and rotated the cylinder back and forth while keepin the rings pressed in, I tried plastic things first but the screwdriver seemed to work best, I dont see any scratches anywhere though

sounds like your good then durty! metal on metal when working on bikes is a huge no no, but i've made erros doing this its so tempting to use a bit of metal to pry something and such. what i did is i went out to the local cheapo hardware store and bouth a bunch of wooden handled brushes, like wire brushes and stuff. came in a set for like 8 bucks. i use those wooden handles for a lot of stuff. and hte brushes come in handy too. and if you need to have a specially shaped peice you just yank out the ka-bar and shape it up! ~Pat
