Well decided to clean my powervalve today. Took my pipe off and rested it on the floor, turned around couple minutes later and this is what was dumped...
![]() Surely that amount of oil is not normal, yes a little bit of oil is expected but that a great puddle!
Also how do I know when it is time to change my silencer packing? When it is sodden with oil, I'm guessing? ~Joe

Has your bike been rebuilt yet?
That looks crazy! It's like a leaking jug of oil. No-wonder it's blowing out everywhere.

Just a thought, the guy I bought the bike off told me to run 20-25:1. I knew to run 32:1, so didn't listen to him. Could that be the reason for all the oil?

i dunno. i run 40:1 in my bike and have no issues. but we are talking about completely different bikes here. and different jetting. if you jet it right you can run it at 20:1. what do you have in it for jets right now do you know? ~pat

No, thats not normal. Something is amiss in your motor; what I can't say without seeing it firsthand.

Could it be because the guy before me was running 20-25:1?

well. from the pic it looks like it is 2 stroke oil. not tranny oil. it is just a huge build up of spent oil for some reason. i can imagine the puddle of oil in the exhaust helped its power any haha. ~pat

running it at 20 to one would mena that there was more oil. if you werent fouling plugs or anything. i think you were hinting that maybe the oil is left over from the previous owner? no way to know unlesss you dump the oil out and ride it for awhile at 32:1. ~pat

92, you need to pull the top end and inspect. You are going to have to clean everything anyway.

Right, I'll get myself a top-end kit at the same time. Just gotta get a torque wrench for the head bolts. And some measuring gear!
