I've been riding for about 2 months now. (i'm 38) last Sat. a buddy took me over to another friends house who has a track on his farm. Awesome track, nice layout but the entie track is deep sugar sand. Not a rock as big as a pea. Iv'e never rode pure sand. The owner informed me my 739 on front was not a good choice.
1 hour later I had taken one good tuck and roll and made about 5 sand angles. The triumph of the day was 1 complete lap with out layin er down. I felt like a child. Kinda like drivin with geased tires in cool whip.
sand kicked my ass. But I had fun. The track owner wasa hell of a nice guy, gave me some good pointers and invited us back. Looks like I'll have to figrue this sand thing out.
thats all.

... and swap that 739 for something designed for softer conditions - a 756 would be a good option.

Here we go again!

pretty much hahaha. keep the weight on the rear tire if you want to accelerate. corners are touch cause the front can wash out. so either put the weight on the front when turning. or sterr with your rear tire. pinning it helps as well ~pat

I ride sand tracks 90% of the time. You cannot be lazy on them. Better to use all your energy on one lap and do it right than a bunch of half assed laps. Lean back and let the front wheel float on the straights, get forward on the tank in turns to get the front wheel to carve a good turn. It will feel like you are going way too fast at first but try to never let off the power through the turn. Get al you braking done before the turn and throttle all the way through and the bike will make it. And never look at the rut in front of you bike. Look way ahead and let the bike do what it wants. It will eventually end up going where you are looking.

Your right.
It was a work out, and it kicks your ass if you fight the bike.
thanks for the tips. I'll try it again this wwek with a 756.
I was told if you learn in sand you will be a better rider all around.
Nice to get off in though.
