Hey guys, I've been reading around for quite some time and can't find a similar problem so here it is lol

I was riding my bike and all out of nowhere it started knocking and the I immediately thought I had blown my top end but upon stopping my bike I realized it wasn't knocking. The ticking is coming from the tranny/clutch somewhere. and it clicks with each revolution of the rear tire. I had it on a stand and put it in gear and it spins and then jumps like the chain is skipping but it isn't. also seems like the clutch isnt fully working when i pull it. The bike seems to want to lurch forward. The previous owner did the the clutch about a month before I bought the bike.

Any help would be great as i'd really like to get back out on the bike, especially with the long weekend coming up

thanks guys!

well, it to me seems like a clutch issue. if your experiencing some clutch problems as well. if it was tranny it would make more then one click per tire revolution. here's what i would do. its not hard to take the clutch cover off and take a looksy, do you have a manual?? ~pat

well I removed the clutch and that isnt the problem everything on that side looks fine. I guess I'm going to have to try to split the case. I have never been into a bike that far but I guess we shall see lol

well the sound to me sounds like a chipped tooth on a gear or a bearing clicking. Everything on the clutch side appeared normal and I didn't notice any signs that anything was wrong. The knocking is quick noticeable when I was riding and from turing it with the clutch out I could clearly tell it was coming from the other side of the case. It sounds like its coming from the area around the front sprocket.

dam, i hoped it didnt come to that, you sure its internal right? i mean it isnt your front sprocket? behind your sporcket you got your tranny, a counter balance shaft and a bunch of other probably expensive parts. could be a bearing though your right aboutt hat. there are lots of bearings in that area... i guess i'll have to wait and see. take your time. lol ~pat

I went to the bike shop and found that i have to order that puller to get my flywheel off as they dont stock it and also the guy basically told me to trash my bike because parts were too expensive and difficult to come by?

hes full of crap. take it to another shop. that makes no sense. depending on whats wrong with it. if the bike ran, but just made that weird clunking noise you were talking about. it must not be to major. plus tell him there's this shop called EBAY that you highly reccomend. ~Pat

There are a lot of OEM parts websites. It may cost you a little bit but if the rest of the bike is okay then its a lot better than buying another bike. Check out bikebandit.com they have all the schematics and prices so you find out what is wrong then see what it will cost. Then decide what is worth doing. Definately doesn't hurt to check it out.

i'd tell you to post a new thread. but i think this is a one answer thing. i'll bet money that your topend has blown and your piston is jammed. thats why there no kickstarting action. dont try to kick it anymore btw. your going to need to take the cylinder off to make sure. ~pat

The clicking noise could also be the chain on the front sprocket. you will hear it when the  bike is on the stand and you spin the tire.
