My 13 year old son is going to be getting a more powerful bike this year but before I put him on it I want to make sure that he has the right safety equipment.Could I get some help on how he should be equipped so he will be as safe as possible?Right now all he has is a Vega full face helmet, Oneal boots and some mechanix gloves. Thanks

Im 14 and i ride a kx250. I just wear Answer riding pants and jersey, Answer gloves, a full face helmet, Shift boots and an Answer chest protector and I crash ALL the time and I'm fine. The chest protector is optional but I recommend it.

Realizing money is a factor; ideally you want him as protected as possible.  I wear the following every ride:

Helmet
Goggles
Leatt Brace
Chest/Back Protector (sometimes a EVS BJ-22 Ballistic jersey)
elbow guards
gloves
MX pants
knee gurads
MX boots

At a minimum I would suggest
Helmet
Goggles
Chest/Back Protector
gloves
MX pants
MX boots

I wear answer pants, a 661 pressure suit, has a chest protector, spine protector, elbow pads and kidney belt built in. Light vented gloves, ocelot boots, and knee/shin guards. And a good helmet and oakley goggles. Minimum would be a helmet, goggles, gloves and boots. Rember moto specfic gear is nice but you dont have to have it. leather work gloves, jeans and a long sleeve shirt can replace mx pants, jersey, and gloves. Good helmet, goggles and boots are the real neccisties.
