some people recomended that i take a propane torch. and apply a little heat to the worst scratches. it melts teh plastic a tiny bit and it flattens and fills the scratch. it works. but you have to extremely careful. i gave up as it takes foreever and is so hard to not screw up. ~pat

hey i got a really good idea. you ready for this, are ya? BUY NEW PLASTICS. if you take care of a brand new pair of plastics then they will last a long time. i spray 409 on mine when im done washing the bike. helps stop it from scratching the next day and helps to make them easier to wash the next day. and also use a powerwasher on them. i put the nozzle like right up onto the plastic and they look nice and shiny afterwards. because mine always stain and im not going to sit there for an hour to just washing f*ing plastics every day.

They sell this kit called plastic renew at denniskirk.com It is a bit of work but it works. I used it on an 83 Honda XL600 about 8 years ago and the bike still looks like brand new. It is a process of sanding, buffing and finally using a chemical that brings the color out again. Trust me when I say it works. You will think I am crazy cause it will initially make a red fender look pink, but once it is smooth and you apply the magic chemical it will look perfect. The kit only cost like $20 and I added some course sandpaper to get the really bad ones out.

Trust me atk it works great. I wish I had the before and after pics to prove it but I did it a long time ago. Now my dad just waxes it once in a while and it is like knew. I will do it on my RM whenever I need to. You just have to be willing to put forth the elbow-grease and work out all the tough scratches. I dont get paid to push the product so I am only recommending it cause I know it works.
