250 two stroke but like you said take it easier but im sure you will adapt to it. if you want to take the safer route and probably better for you would be to get a 125 then when your ready get a 250. sthey are the same size and will both work fine for you, the 250 will just be more powerfull.

Whatever you do dont get a 125 four stroke. It's a good bike to start with, but you'll get disapointed shortly afterwards

Yeah 2strokes are the way to go. They are a dying breed so used ones are pretty cheap. I'd go for a 250 2stroke if I was you but since this is ur first bike and ur kinda small u might want a 125. But go 2stroke either way.

DurtyGurl: Whatever you do dont get a 125 four stroke. It's a good bike to start with, but you'll get disapointed shortly afterwards
the Newer 4 strokes produce great power from what they used to be in past years if you do some research about them. In fact after doing a lot of research on bikes and testing and everything I found that a lot of professional racer are starting to like 4 strokes better then 2 strokes. In the past I read that 4 strokes were crap, but newer ones seem to be starting to dominate the 2 strokes they say. There are many different opinions on this subject I have learned fast!! From my observation, this is what I learned, people with 2 strokes hate 4 strokes and say there junk, people with 4 stokes say the same for 2 strokes. Who is right , who is wrong ? Perhaps it is a matter of preference as to what you personally like to ride. If you buy a new Honda CRF 250 or 450 R, 4 stroke I really highly doubt you will be disappointed with the power or handling of it. If your a noob, not that I have a lot of experience but I would say 125 2 stroke like a YZ 125 to start out with or if you want to go 4 stroke and not have the pain of mixing gas go with a 250R. One more thing I will share, the top mechanic at my local Honda shop told me not to be afraid to buy a Racer and use it for trail riding. Trail riding and Racing on a track are totally different on the bikes. He you won't have to rebuild it as often as if you race it! My next bike after I'm not total noobage anymore will be a Racer I think but I have no idea if I will go YZ 2 stroke or 4 stroke yet. My best advice is research day and night on specific models of bikes, read the tests professional riders do on them and create your own conclusions based on the your research. You are going to get 20 different answers on here about what bike to buy. lol.

Ha Now im getting on the fence and i dont want to be........ Ive got good responses from all of you thanks but im still not clear on wether i should get a 125 and be un happy in 4 months or get a 250 and be too short to reach the ground.... is easier to customize the suspension on a 250 or harder springs on a 125? or is it both too expensive? like is said 5"6 195lbs. --- 250vs125 --NEWBIE.........? Scratches head
=]
By the way I have a custom airbrush shop in the central Florida area and if you want some custom plastics let me know!

do you have a website for your airbrushing business ? thats something I may be interested in doing. I was thinking of getting some new graphics of some kind to make my bike kinda unique not like everyone other one.
