If you want a four stroke get a YZ250F If you go two stroke get a YZ250 I don't think there is very much height difference between the two even a 125 two stroke isn't much different. At your height you will have problems reaching on any full size bike.

this thread is everywhere and i am about to repeat what i previously said.
125 and 250 are the same height. if you can touch the ground on a 125, then you can touch the ground on a 250.
i will say this though you are short. you will have trouble. i am 5' 8" to 5' 10" can never get the same measurement when i go to the doctors. but my point is that i can only touch the ground with one flat foot and my toes barely touch on the other foot. you are going to have to make sure you get the sag dialed in. sag is how low the bike lowers after you sit on it. and after you do this you will need to learn how to mount and dismount the bike and how to start it.
yamaha is not the best *** bike ever made. get the color you want.
and like i said before, you should be able to ride a 250 just take your time. but you will be able to just jump on a 125 and go.
i have more to say but i have to quote some people so just wait a few minutes before you guys start posting away.

DurtyGurl: Whatever you do dont get a 125 four stroke. It's a good bike to start with, but you'll get disapointed shortly afterwards
230f: the Newer 4 strokes produce great power from what they used to be in past years if you do some research about them. In fact after doing a lot of research on bikes and testing and everything I found that a lot of professional racer are starting to like 4 strokes better then 2 strokes. In the past I read that 4 strokes were crap, but newer ones seem to be starting to dominate the 2 strokes they say. There are many different opinions on this subject I have learned fast!! From my observation, this is what I learned, people with 2 strokes hate 4 strokes and say there junk, people with 4 stokes say the same for 2 strokes. Who is right , who is wrong ? Perhaps it is a matter of preference as to what you personally like to ride. If you buy a new Honda CRF 250 or 450 R, 4 stroke I really highly doubt you will be disappointed with the power or handling of it. If your a noob, not that I have a lot of experience but I would say 125 2 stroke like a YZ 125 to start out with or if you want to go 4 stroke and not have the pain of mixing gas go with a 250R. One more thing I will share, the top mechanic at my local Honda shop told me not to be afraid to buy a Racer and use it for trail riding. Trail riding and Racing on a track are totally different on the bikes. He you won't have to rebuild it as often as if you race it! My next bike after I'm not total noobage anymore will be a Racer I think but I have no idea if I will go YZ 2 stroke or 4 stroke yet. My best advice is research day and night on specific models of bikes, read the tests professional riders do on them and create your own conclusions based on the your research. You are going to get 20 different answers on here about what bike to buy. lol. ![]()
if you notice dg said 125 four stroke. 125 four strokes suck. not because i hate them but because they have absolutely no power or suspension.
i dont care how much research you did, it matters for nothing. there are reasons why the pros race 4 strokes, and its not because they are better, well in the most part. its because the ama is retarded and cant make good rules. 4 strokes are aloud to have twice the displacement and they need more maintenance and the maintencance is more expensive, so the manufacturers want the pros to race the 4 strokes. its like advertising. people see the pros racing them so the average joe has to have it. so the manufactuer makes more money because are now spending more money to buy parts for these high maintencance bikes. but they have to have twice the displacement for a reason, because they are worse. im not saying this because i dont like them. truthfully i have been going back and forth trying to decide which one i should buy.
and your mechanic is wrong. putting around on a racer will kill the valves on it. you will eat up valves like nothing. they need to go fast so they can stay cool. you may say that he is a mechanic at a honda shop but that means nothing. im sure when i turn 18 at the end of january i could walk into multiple shops and get offered a job. but there is a reason why i work on my own bikes and dont take it to dealerships. its because most of the mechanics are lost and they charge too much for a half azzed job.
and the point of this thread is for research.

you dont want to put your foot down in a turn, that how you get it ripped off. you stick it out to balance yourself. but it also helps if the rear end slides out you stick it down and saves you from falling on your face. but you wont having any problems. the only problems you will have is to get on and off the bike and to start it.

yea i would go for a 2 stroke. it will be alot cheaper to maintain, but if you got the money and time and you want to learn on something that you dont have to pin the throttle alot to keep it in good condition, then go for a 4 stroke. I wish I would have got a 2 stroke cuz it's always hot where i live and it would help alot if my bike was water cooled, but then again I'm no expert, that is just what I've read about so far.. if I'm wrong, then please hit me up
-------------------- HOT DAMN!!! Thats go riding
