i thought it was semi-auto, no clutch just shift.

Pw80 would be too small. I think the 100 is perfect. He might wanna upgrade to 80 l8er.

guys have some confidence the kid! if your son is responsible then theres no reason he cant ride a 80 or 85. i learned on a kx80 and then went right to a cr125 when i was 14. but that powerband will get him into trouble if he isnt careful. make sure he is in an open area when he first starts riding it. possibly a sandy area so he doesnt feel the powerband at its peak but can get used to how the powerband hits.

dude you will get so bashed for saying that on this forum. i use to always say that. but now i have changed my mind. i think a race bike is too much for any beginner. i would suggest getting a bike like a pw80 for a year then sell it and get a yz85. i got an xr80 when i was 9 and drove into the ground. when i was 10 i got a brand new 02 cr80 and i had troubles on that bike for a few years.

dude, just because you did it doesn't mean that every kid that age can! It all depends on how aggresive of a rider he is.

Hey get him a crf100r or a you can get him a rm65, i am 12years old and im getting a yz85. I know he might not like clutch but at his age he should be riding clutch, if you get him a pw80 he will be over it in like 1month it hasnt got no power for a 12 year old. Just put him on a rm65 i know he might get scared on powerband but he will get used to it or a crf100r are mad. I am coming from a 70 4 stroke to a yz85 I know it will be hard for me but ill get used to it soon, i have been double on many 250s and i really like the 2 stroke zing and power. Dont get him a pw80 he will grow out of it, get him a crf100r and then you can upgrade him to a yz85,rm125 or a crf150r after about a year or 2 on the crf100r
cya
put him on a bike that he will grow in to
