Which would win in a drag race down a soy bean field where we both can top out our bikes?

The YZ250F is a stock 2006 model, the CR125 is a 1998 model with a Pro Circuit pipe. Other than that it is completely stock as well.  

teh 250f has a higher top speed. drag races proove nothing. they prove whos got teh faster bike not who'se the better rider. ~pat

Yeah we know that. This is purely for drag racing bragging rights. We'll race on a track some other time.  

ahh well teh 250f has you on top speed. you'll accelerate better but in a long enough stretch he'll breeze by you. on a track is a different story ~pat

haha well why don't you just race and find out? or are you trying to figure out how much to bet? im pretty sure the yz250f would win

Well I've got the YZ250F but the other guy is reading this too so a bet probably won't work now. haha

We've been having this feud for awhile now, each thinking we'd beat the other, and I figured I'd ask since we won't have a chance to actually race for a lil while.  

haha oh well in that case the 125 would probably blow you away

its not even a debate lol. its proven on a long stretch where both bikes cna top out the 2 stroke will reach top speed faster bu teh four stroke has better top speed. lol its not even an opinion haha ~pat

Stock for stock, the 250f will most certainly pull tha holeshot, although JS used to pull some impressive holeshots with his KX125 but he had one of the best mechanics/tuners in the business for his ride. The stock YZ250f should romp all over the stock CR125.

this really depends on how long the stretch is. top speed on both bikes are similar, yes the 250f has a slightly higher top speed. the 125 will have better throttle responce allowing it to beat you off the line if the other person is good. it will be easier for you though because you can use raw power to beat him off the line. now your rpm's will raise faster then his, you will hold the power in the top of the rpm's longer, but his power will surge as soon as it hits the powerband and your power will peak at similar times but yours will drop off sooner and it will drop hard. the 125 will hold it on top longer and his power wont drop as hard as yours will. just trying to describe how the power is delivered from dyno charts.

he will beat you off the line but you will quickly pass him back but once you both peak you will see him flying past you if the stretch is long enough.

adam, theoretically the 250f should beat it off the line. but every drag i've seen between two bikes where one is 2 stroke and hte other is 4 stroke. the 2 stroke allways beats it off the line. it mihgt jsut be hte people that are dragging not knowing how to to or what. but thats just my experience. im with elko except i believe the difference in top speeds is a bit bigger then he ~pat
